I think we should sign Dexter Fowler and trade Ender Inciarte. Seeing as how Inciarte has fielded more calls than Shelby, leads me to believe we could again get another nice haul for him. Meanwhile, Fowler (29, will be 30 in March) can come in as a switch hitter, play CF for us, and is from Atlanta, GA. I think Fowler would be a great fit here. He could play Center until the Mallex Pain Train is ready for a call up and then we can move Fowler over to LF or RF.
Also, we should kick the tires on Tim Lincecum. He's a two time Cy-Young winner, and we obviously have a thing for reviving pitchers. We could bring him in relatively cheap and he could be a 4th or 5th for us.
Am I crazy?

When Tyrell Jenkins is your #8 pitching prospect, you know you have an insane amount of studs in your system.

I hope Tyrell earns a spot in the rotation out of Spring Training. I'm ready to see what he's got.

K, just making sure
I mean, how far off of a terrible idea is it? I just feel like we could get so much more out of Inciarte by trading him coming off his crazy year as opposed to keeping him and watching him not be able to reproduce last year and seeing his trade value plummet.

Have to give up a draft pick to sign fowler.

shite, well that sucks. No point in throwing away our first rounder for Fowler. I see now why signing him is a stupid idea. I knew it was too good to be true.
What are your thoughts on Lincecum?

It would be our second rounder. Because our pick is in the top ten and therefore protected.
Lince, depends on the price. I mean if its for 2 or 3 mill, he is pretty much a lottery ticket. Don't expect the Lince of old.

Inciarte is 25 and a money saver right now. He'll hit his prime age when we hit our new ballpark. There comes a time where it's too late to "trade for a haul" when you want to begin competing in 2017.
To me I don't see how dealing Inciarte alone as a single piece today would bring us any real value that we can put forward to 2017-2018.
I guess what I want to know is what would you like in return? Also what do you believe is realistic in return?

Why does the MLB Draft have to be so damn difficult I swear the way the draft(s) work in MLB and all the advanced metrics/stats are the two things I don't understand with baseball. Everything else, I'm good with.

Lincecum's motion wasn't ever going to allow him to experience longegivity. Too much stress and strain in his small frame. I agree I don't see him ever recovering unless he changes his mechanics

Draft is simple. Pretty easy to understand. Depending on the metric it can be hard to understand.
Rig: Yea, I know that Lince's delivery is not a good thing, hence why I called him a lottery ticket.

for instance, why does the MLB have two drafts? Why not just have one?
Posted on 1/26/16 at 12:17 pm to USAF Hart
MLB only has one amateur draft.
The other draft is the Rule V draft. It is to prevent teams from stockpiling talent in the minors and to give players a shot in the bigs if deserved.

Remember that time we almost traded Teheran and the 21st overall pick to move up to #3 to take Gausman? Thank God we didn't get it into the league office in time.

Scoops like that are what makes BravesCave the best.

I still don't get why top draft picks aren't traded more often in baseball?
Posted on 1/26/16 at 12:43 pm to OMFGKenny
In what regards? Like before they are selected?

Like on draft day, I.E: The NFL draft.
Is there certain rules against it?
