The story goes that during the process, Shanahan and Spurrier were working the room at some alumni event, and compared notes ("They've already settled on Archer and all of this is for show.") And Spurrier was pissed enough for October 9, 1993 ("Never forget") - to happen.

I left that game when it was 51-3 (longtime negatiger) and under 5 minutes to play. As I was walking across the quad back to my fraternity house, in a deep depression, with an unhappy date, I heard the Florida crowd go nuts because Spurrier had ordered up yet another bomb. And it scarred me. #neverforget
