I don't think people realize how difficult it is to win a championship.

Going into '15 the entire pitching staff was relatively unknown outside of Poche, Jared Foster was thought to be a low production guy, Chinea hadn't shown consisentcey on the collegiate level, Scivique was thought to be beaten out by a prep catcher weeks into the season and it all game together.

Granted Maineri tried to over coach in the CWS and gambled with Poche throwing game 1 but at the time it was the best matchup. Fault him now sure and he deserves it but if LSU squeaks out that game people would be proclaiming him a genius and ballsy.

Andy and Alan are two of the best assistant coaches who are continuing to recruit at an incredible rate for a "program that is declining" by rant standards. It puzzles me the lack of optimism shown toward a team that may have the best pitching staff in 2017 if LSU holds on to Poche to go along with Lange, Latz, Godrey, Norman, Bain, McKay.

If Poche doesn't commit the error, we are talking about how Mainieri's best move was recognizing that throwing the lefty against TCU was the best matchup. Sadly, he committed the error, then melted down. Still was the right decision. He was untouchable until he airmailed the throws.

I don't know that I've seen anyone call it "declining", but I do know that I have read where people do not have confidence in Coach Mainieri to give his team the best chance to win in the postseason.
