quote:hell it's so taboo to even mention the bad.
Can't celebrate its "good" portions and not accept the bad that comes with it
Just compare us to every other 1st world nation that doesn't have shite tons of handguns.

It's the most barbaric and outdated amendment we have.
It serves us, literally no purpose in 2015. For all our exceptionalism, you'd think we'd be smarter than the rest of the world and would have ditched it along time ago.
It was useful when our framers and first settlers had to fend off the British and conquer the new world. That threat is gone now and has been gone since the mid 1800s. Everything after that has just been wasteful.
But I think it's extended "relevance" is a by product of capitalism. For all its good, people are obsessed with their material goods and their attainment of $ and capital and property and will go to whatever lengths to defend it, even if it means. Blood. As a Christian, fighting for the death for worldly things is kinda like worshiping a false God, something you think a "Christian" nation would get a grip of.
Ultimately, it's the best system we have and the best system for growth and potential. But this just seems to be one of the things that comes with it
