I wouldn't have believed it given the public comment from last year and the outrage from the Commission's decision to set the season earlier this year ...... but only 7 people attended the public meeting, and 2 of those came very late.
Da Hammer articulated concerns over season dates with great understanding of the issues surrounding changing the zone boundaries and acknowledging the political difficulties with current Commission membership, as did one other attendee. Another group offered up an alternative that involved merging the West and East Zones and splitting SW and SE Louisiana into zones. I doubt such a change would fly on such a short time-frame. Something like that would require months of consideration and review.
Two of the 7 attendees expressed view expressed above; keep the existing zone boundary because it allows expanded opportunity in the New Orleans area to hunt >1 zone, which this year allows 14 extra hunt days.

How are thrse meetings advertised? I did not hear of this one taking place
Probably get better turnout if it had beer and a raffle

is there some type of law where we could only have 3 zones? could there somehow be 4? keep west and east how they are, and just split the coastal into SE and SW?
