When it comes to marching bands this isn't remotely true. See the link to Phantom Regiment above. I have no idea what they're playing but it's one of the most beautifully arranged pieces I've ever heard. SU playing and dancing to Back That arse Up is fun and all but that's about it.

not vouching for the band being better I was just justifying why it might seem good to some. Not here to argue.
