If you are really serious in starting a crawfish pond, dig up a section about 1-2 acres big and make it about 2-3 feet deep. You need to set up a drain so you can control the water depth. Plant the field with rice and stock each acre with atleast 2 sacks of crawfish. They will get fat on the rice stalks. Should be able to harvest quite a few sacks if you provide food and keep the damn commorants, egrets, raccoons away.
