The term price point implies no variability, imho

exactly. price point simply means PRICE. a singular point on a numerical continuum.

now if a price is variable, we use the term PRICE RANGE

price point is for morons

i see it as the cutoff point where the price becomes either a good or bad deal. i think it's only used with items that change price
