The picture in the linked article shows the brewery using PVC piping to transfer wort to and from the conical fermenters and kettles.



PVC starts degrading at around 140F and even at normal temperatures can leach chemicals into the water/beer passing through it.. This doesn't begin to cover the fact that it's probably a breeding ground for bacteria.

SO yes, his PVC piping is literally better suited for use in a sewage system than a brewery*.

*unless it's the sewage system for the brewery
