The rest made me love how great the first was in comparison. I'd feel bad for Sly if someone else had ruined his franchise, but in this case it was all him.

Rocky is one of the finest films of the 1970's, which makes it one of the finest films of all time. As much "fun" as the rest were, none were in the same league as the first.

And what made it great was the story. It wasn't a straight boxing movie, it was a story about a guy who happened to box and got a big break.
So when people shite on 5 and love on 3 & 4, I'm confused. Bc 3& 4 were simple "fight the next unbeatable guy". The underlying story of Rocky the Man was lost. In 5, it was a return to those roots. That's why I like 5 more than 3 & 4.
