He's definitely killing his credit score keeping the card maxed out. If this is his only card, maxing it out will have his score pretty low. If they do a hard inquiry for his credit limit increase, they may deny it because of that. If he's had the card for a while and not missed any payments, I don't know why they haven't given him an automatic credit limit increase.
