The only things cool about Episode 1 are the Podrace and Darth Maul.
Someone else asked why QGJ was obsessed with training Anakin?
I think he saw Obi Wan in Anakin because IIRC Obi Wan was an older apprentice at the Jedi Academy and was considered headstrong much like how Anakin was perceived in the books between Menace and AOTC.
But I haven't read all the books, so I may be missing stuff.

The kids might like the pod race but I don't care for it. But those huge sea monsters were awesome. No one ever remembers those.
