When I first started my job (16 years ago), I was having trouble adjusting to my new grown-up schedule. I'd still stay up all hours like a student and then drag arse into work completely exhausted.

My office was in a secluded portion of the building, so foot traffic into my workspace was pretty sparse throughout the day.

One day I was sitting at my desk, trying not to nod off. My head started dropping and it would jolt me awake. After a few of those - my head dropped hard, I had a big jolt and suddenly felt totally refreshed.

However, the back of my neck was pretty achy and the front of my shirt was a little damp -- and it was 45 minutes later.

I was so terrified that someone saw me sleeping (and apparently drooling) at my desk, but thankfully nobody did.

Started going to bed much earlier after that.
