Are you flying in?
If so renting a car?
Figure you will lose an hour travel time from SEATAC to Downtown (and back) with travel, maybe more.
Space needle is going to take too long, Columbia Center is no wait, taller, but all inside.
Pikes is like the French Market and Riverwalk combined.
Lots of places to eat and sightsee.
Rainer is about two hours from Downtown Seattle, but only a little over an hour from the airport. (Downtown and Rainer are different directions)

It doesn't take an hour at all to get from the airport to downtown unless you're in straight up rush hour.
