Last year
Personnel losses
Returners
Expected improvements
Understanding that not EVERYTHING will improve
Spring/Summer/"Fall" practices
Coaches

He shouldn't go off just one, but last year has to be the baseline

Last year is always nothing but a data point that has to be taken into context. No one predicted 2011 would turn out like it did based on the 2010 team. The fatal mistake, which I correctly pointed out back then, was assuming that the defense wouldn't be near as good due to the losses of PP7, Kelvin and Nevis.
