DON"T get a TORO. biggest POS.
It depends on the mower. The ones that come from Sears/Lowes are all made my MTD no matter what name is on it, Toro, Cub, Husqvarna, Murray, Deere.
You have to go to a dealer to get a mower that is made by the manufacturer, but that is an upgraded cost as well.
Not true. The Deere is made by Deere at the Deere factory. Toro is also a Toro. You can buy those same units at the dealer. The dealer does offer much nicer units as well.

I didn't think Deere makes push mowers any more?
I just moved up the rung and bought a used Snapper HiVac 21" commercial push mower - nice, but based on my first use looks like i'll have to run it pretty slow to get a good cut.
