I lived there for a summer and loved it. It reminded me of a European NYC. Do it if you have the opportunity, you won't regret it.
Ps. Anyone that says London has shitty food does not know what they are talking about. There food scene is as diverse as NYC. British food is just kind of meh so that is why it gets a bad rap.

Yeah I don't get people saying the food in London is shitty. I lived in Camden for 6 months. I really enjoyed it but the pound was more than twice the dollar at the time, so it was quite expensive. That made it difficult to really enjoy the city and all it has to offer since I was just out of school. The clubs can be obnoxious if you are not rich or with 3:1 ratio of women. However it was a great time.

Yeah, of course you can find some good food, but it's typically from Italy, China, India, Middle East, etc. I was probably being unfair and overgeneralizing, but I was mainly getting at the fact that their default cuisine is pretty appalling.
You can obviously seek out some good international stuff if you make an effort. But the OP wouldn't be on vacation, and if he's looking to just get something that's reasonably priced and fast on a weeknight, they don't exactly have a solid offering.
Also, I'm not much of a foodie, so I guess that's another reason I have a different view.
