The SS grates will last forever. My Weber is 5-6 years old and the grates have no rust or pitting on them.

My thoughts on the sear burner- if you can get the whole grill up to 650-700 degrees, do you really need a separate seer burner? I ended up saying no and did not get it. I haven't missed it at all, but I don't really know any better.
