Chavis won a National Title at UT and was the main reason they won it. In 2011 LSU had one of the best teams of all time and it was again mainly due to Chavis' defense. So say what you want about the guy, but he has proven himself a lot more as a DC than Steele has up until now. Now I'm not saying Steele won't be as good, this will be his first time driving a Cadillac so to speak.... so who knows? Hopefully with everything he will have at his disposal, LSU will have FILTHY defenses for years to come! But he has not proven anything yet.

One thing about Shavis and those two great defenses. Go back and look at the talent on those two particular teams. Yes, he did great things with them. However, that's what it requires for him to have a great, well balanced defense. When he didn't have that talent or experience level, you can start to get down into the statistics and see weaknesses, like his last two LSU defenses.
