I've never said that they weren't making the film to retain the rights. I just don't think that they're the bad guys for wanting to retain the rights that they legally hold.

It's not a rights grab. They already have the rights. They're not taking them from anyone. They have the right to put out films to retain those rights.

There were ways to approach that and Fox took the wrong one IMHO. They should have gone down the route they intended for Daredevil and did an "ashcan copy" film to meet the bare minimum for retaining the rights, like the Corman version.

That would have kept the rights without publicly sodomizing the corpse of the IP by having such a high profile flop.
