8 weeks for summer break (roughly)
1 week for thanksgiving
2 weeks for Christmas
1 Week for easter
labor day
MLK Day
Mardi Gras 2 days
Im sure I'm missing 1-2 days that schools close
2 weeks personal / sick

Looks like 14-16 weeks a year to me.

Do we forget about the week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks off for Christmas, a week off for Easter, days off for spring break, some mother frickers have a fall break now, and New Orleans teachers are off several days for Mardi Gras.

Compare that to someone with a real job that gets about 8 paid holidays. I love my job and make a damn good living but GTFO about it not being at least 3 months off for being a teacher.
