told me quite a few years ago that I couldn't shoot an SKS

Crazy, the exact same thing happened to me there. About four years ago I brought in a SKS I had just purchased, and the guy behind the counter shook his head and told me to put it back in my car. Went back a couple times after that to shoot pistols with friends and each time the staff there was rude as frick.

Finally, about a month ago, I'd just finished my AR pistol build and obviously immediately wanted to go shoot it, so I showed up there about an hour before close with just 50 rounds. The guy behind the counter (who was actually pretty cool, but found out later he was new, go figure) said they only had one working rifle lane, and that it was currently occupied. He did say that the shooter had been there awhile and that he could get me in there in about 30 mins, so I chose to wait. Finally got me in just 15 mins before close and I wasnt even able to zero my sights before they announced they were closed. When I got out, some other guy was behind the counter and charged me the full frickin range fee even after I mentioned I'd only gotten 15 mins. He then noticed my AR pistol and told me the other guy made a mistake and that I shouldnt have been allowed to shoot it. Swore then that I'd never go back.

Go try the range in Baker if you havent been. Just went last week and was extremely impressed with their staff.
