There is no such thing as a finite natural resource. We have never run out of anything and we never will, mate.

I pretty much agree with you and I upvoted your post, but this isn't entirely true. If you consider animals a natural resource, we have most certainly driven some to extinction.

Sort of right. They just get to the point where they are not worth extracting. And for the flat earth cornucopians, something like 40 of 54 oil producing countries are past peak production.

The shot in the arm in the U.S. from unconventional sources is nice, but will be short lived.
EIA has some of the more optimistic scenarios.
