I agree. Without Gru, they fall flat.
Odd movie, I can see how people will find offense with some scenes. (The anti-evolutionary crowd will hate the opening
)
I didn't find offense, but felt there were a couple a laughs with a lot of gibberish in between.
Kids loved it though.
