Tyrion Lannister Should have got a lawyer... (S4 E6)

Possible spoilers from Season 4 Ep 6.
Tyrion Lannister should have hired a lawyer to represent him. The old man in charge of medicine laid out a perfect defense for him, if he had been cross examined. Sansa ran off in fear. Sansa's friend, the king's fool, was found dead with the poison. Sansa had a clear motive to kill Joffrey. Sansa may have been Tyrion's wife but Tyrion never wanted to marry her and had no connection with her.
Shaes testimony would be easily refuted, that jealous whore would be shut down.
Trial by combat... you can only roll the dice so many times my little friend...
One of the most epic moments in Series episode history as far as im concerned. Such an amazing actor.

His lawyer would have ended up dead. He didn't have a real chance and he knew it.
Viper actually won, just didn't follow through.

Pretty sure there are no lawyers.

Thats like someone with a winning position in chess, who spoils it then gets mated saying they won. You win...or you do not.

I'm sure Tywin would have never allowed him to have a proper defense. His time in King's Landing was over, Joffrey was just an excuse.

Having to hear the confession is what did him in.

What I am saying is that call he had to do was stab him in a major organ, cut into an artery, behead, etc instead of talking when he had him down..not take his mind off the fight.
He had him beat, if his concentration had been 100% on the fight and not 30% on the fight and 70% pointing and screaming at the people watching him, he would have easily won.
Like David and Goliath, if David had been yelling at the people behind goliath and what they represented to him, no one would have ever heard the story or remembered names, because more than likely, goliath would have won like he was supposed to and it would have been like any other day.

Oberyn's overconfidence got him killed.

Furthermore, rather the viper should have won isnt an excuse in this made up message board debate. We must remember Tyrion did not no who would represent him in combat when he requested this. I dont even think he had full confidence in his champion prior to the fight.

I think He had hoped Bron or His brother would be able to represent him, he also didn't know who he would be fighting against. Viper was probably the best he could have hoped for.
I look forward to Pedro Pascal's upcoming Netflix series too.

As far as I'm concerned, Oberyn did win.
Things he wanted:
- The Mountain to suffer/die. (Check)
- Tywin to suffer embarrassment and eventual death. (Check.)
- A confession (Check.)
Now Dorne is involved as a major player thanks to his noble sacrifice.
That whole "head getting squished" thing is a minor detail.
Prolific Red Viper homer signing out.

He knew he'd be dead otherwise, and there are no lawyers. So trial by combat, even if he had to face ridiculous odds, was his best bet.
This thread is dumb.

Yeah, totally. He could have filed multiple motions to suppress evidence under Wong Sun. Just about all of the testimony against him was inadmissible, yet no one ever objected on his behalf. Judge should have been recused, and a full-on investigation into prosecutorial improprieties should have been launched. Worst case, even if he loses, he ties up the case for years with appeals and in the interim, there is likely a regime change owing to the death of one or more kings. For being touted as such a strategic mastermind, he really fricked this one up.
Oh, and

Tyrion's oratory skills are 100x better than any lawyer in Westeros.

Yea its kinda suppose to be thats the thing. Still not as dumb as people who take politics seriously not smart enough to realize what a shite show it is. Who actually spend time debating stuff they hear in fake news. Now thats really dumb.
