I always find it disengenous when people grieve of social media. Like "Look how much I'm hurting right now. I need everyone to acknowledge how much I'm hurt!"

I know someone who lost her husband, recently, in a tragic accident, in his 20's. She used Facebook to communicate with her friends, a few times, early on, because she simply couldn't take all the calls and talk to anyone without falling apart. She wanted to let them know how much she appreciated them, the prayers, the calls, the thoughts, the kind posts, but she couldn't talk at that time. The posts helped her as she read every one of them, but there was no way she could handle being with but a few folks, initially. I completely understood it and didn't see anything that sounded like "woe is me, I'm in pain". Of course, she was in pain. She expressed how much they were helping her through. It was a terrible situation.
I think some use it as an outlet when they can't talk to everyone for whatever reason. I'm not sure it would be my way and I hope I never have to find out, but I understand why some people use it. You can type while you're crying so hard you can't speak to folks face to face.
People grieve in different ways.

Some people have family that can't or won't talk about the grief . Others don't want to burden their family with their feelings. I don't think anybody does it for attention .
