I feel for the family, but also do not feel obligated to help pay for the burial.
Live within your means.
I see where you're coming from. The "GoFundMe" trend for every person that has difficulty or sob story is becoming a tired trend.
But do you react with the same harshness when you see a GoFundMe for a child's medical expenses?

Medical expenses are the one thing that I don't mind donating for just because the health care system in this country blows. And that's a life and death situation.
This girl does not need a $15,000 burial. I'm sorry.

Had a friend of a friend who is an attorney, he worked for a small firm that probably didn't offer very affordable health insurance so he choose to not insure his wife. It probably saved him $300 a month when he was making 6 figures. She got cancer, it was nothing life threatening but cost them a lot of money. I refused to attend benefit or donate anything because they made a decision not to pay for insurance.
