Dad talks of how the LSU campus felt like an absolute morgue that Monday after losing to Tennessee. Apparently, there was some type of long Tennessee run (may have been an interception return), but the radio announcer (assuming Politz) was saying over and over "and Cannon is on the ground! Cannon is on the ground!

Not often used, as excuses were not common back in the day for bad (or unfortunate) referee calls. However, until about 4-5 yrs ago, I had a newspaper clipping saved from the following week's loss to TN. In that Knoxville ?? paper photo, cannon was digging for the goal line (2-pt conversion) with the ball tightly nestled in his left armpit 1/3 across the stripe. The photo had a caption, but can't remember...has anyone ever seen the photo I describe?

My parents were there. They often reminded me of that.
My mother saved the dress she wore to that game and called it her "Billy Cannon Dress".
