I believe at last count the official attendance was somewhere around 400,000, HA! No, I WASN'T there but remember listening with my Daddy as I did EVERY Saturday night for years. We were on Dorcheat Bayou in LA - lower Arkansas - fishing. I was only 10 but old enough to realize the Tigers won a thriller. Most people forget the ensuing goal line stand, once again led by Cannon, that helped immortalize the punt return. Also, the story about the "official" accompanying Cannon "all the way" is a big part of the legend of that Halloween night. He was an impostor coming off the sideline and appeared to go stride for stride with Cannon.
