Just spent a few days in New Orleans. I was born there but moved when I was 11. It's still my favorite city in the world.

I was curious though how much one would need to actually live in New Orleans. The following would be preferred:

4 bedroom, 2+ bath house with office space

Easy driving distance to the city (say no more than 30 minutes) and still in an area with fun stuff to do

Good school system (perhaps private schools?)

Safe area

What's the going salary for living in that kind of spot? Where would that spot be?

You can live within NOLA area, make less than $100k as a family and still live in a 2,000 sqft house and send your kids to private school (or magnets if you hit the lottery- they have lotteries for admission).
