Seeing VV throwing the glass against the wall in episode 1 and being visibly pissed off leads me to think that he knew nothing of Caspere being killed at the time. I can't recall if anyone was in the room with to where he would need to be acting as if he was unaware of Caspere;s demise?
CF is not dead for sure tho. Way too early to off a character of his caliber. Going to be interesting to see how that plays out.

Way way way way too much exposition again.
There's a difference between philosophical ramblings and such as exposition to subtly SHOW the character (Rust Cohle) and exposition as lazy writing to just tell the audience everything about the character (Frank in the "basement" monologue). If that info is really needed in a short time frame then it should be shown in a flashback. That allows us to experience it (keeping us engaged) and to gather our own conclusions
