I know this has been hashed out and repeated a million times, but Lebron played 7 seasons and the best teammate he had was Mo Williams.

Not every great should follow the same career path based on outside influences. Like I mentioned, we always roast players for not caring about titles, and Lebron threw away his reputation to win titles, and at the time he and everyone else thought he was giving up any MVPs going forward due to sharing time with the other 2 guys, but he gets no love for that sacrifice, only hate, which is just odd.

I really think it's just people who didn't like him before and didn't want him to win so they wanted him to stay in CLE with Mo Williams, but leaving really killed any chance to keep going with the "choker/can't win the big one" narrative so it just made those guys even more angry.

I'm not even saying it's 100% fair to Lebron. But I guess the argument is that he could've gotten people to Cleveland and won there. And sure, Gilbert is a fricking idiot, and who knows about their front office, but I'd assume if the best player on the planet wants things to happen, the front office can make that happen (rather than lose him). But instead, he took his talents to Miami and put together a (seemingly) superteam. I'm not sure why anyone thought that he'd be foregoing MVPs and whatnot, because him going to a better team with better players doesn't change his spot as the best in the business.

And I do agree with you that it's a litle odd that he seems to only get hate for that, but I think that has to do with how the situation played out and all the attention he got (and seemed to want). Basically, it rubbed people the wrong way. So while Lebron haters had fuel added to their fires, people on the fence about him likely started to lean away from him after that.

And that's just my two cents, btw...from someone who doesn't like or hate Lebron.
