Great question. My brother and I went in on one we basically stole from an old dude at an estate sale -$2,000 for a 1996 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 126K original miles, and it runs/drives like a champ. We use it for hunting, and landscape stuff we do at our houses. Having one available whenever you need it is definitely a plus.
