I always opt for the towel. . . you can never have too many fishing towels!
(3rd option, besides the towel and shirt, is a hat)

I don't remember having the option. Might have just overlooked it.

Tell us Sparkplug#1, how many large pelagic fish have you tagged?
I should have kept track but I never did. In my 24 years of being a professional fisherman, I'd say my best year was north of 700 when I ran a charter buisness in Costa Rica. But, I don't have an exact number, sorry.

Not the answer he was expecting.

Here is a webpage on fish tagging with a series of photos of some different tags. There are many different methods and styles of tagging fish, but these are three common tag types.
Notice the relative size of the tags. Although the highly visible (brightly colored) portion of the tags are approximately the same length, the overall size of the tags differ to due the mechanism that actually secures the tag to the fish.

Not being an a hole serious question
Why are u not in Costa Rica anymore and do u still run a charter just somewhere else?

Hey, I play cards too and I understand playing a bluff. It's all good.

It's there!

I seem to catch several tagged reds a year, but have never caught a tagged trout; I heard the tag on the trout tends to get dislodged easily (compared to reds, where the tag is lodged between the bigger scales)
Very cool, OP.

I'm not worried about that or the trout that takes one for the team. Again, that must suck having to carry that size tag for such a small fish, is all I'm saying.

If ya think that tag which weighs less than a gram is bad...
click here and look at the photo near the bottom of the article that shows some of the transmitters.
This required making an incision, implanting the device, and suturing up the incision.
Surprisingly, over 90% of the trout that were implanted with these survived.

I got burnt out on fishing in CR. I still enjoy CR, though.
To WTF: not sure if I know who you are talking about. It's been several years since I fished there. Can you give me a first name? Also, I don't think it's the weight of the tag. I would think they make them neutrally bouyant. The hydrodynamic drag of the tag would suck more than anything. I have zero problems with someone tagging a trout.
To the OP: that's cool as shite. I've never caught a tagged fish.
