Are you sure it wasn't bluefish damaging your baits? That's the only saltwater pest fish I've encountered that had a penchant for ruining plastics.....you don't even need to catch them...I went through about 5 baits before catching one and figuring out what in the hell was going on.

It's possible but I did actually catch a few of the ladyfish so I assumed that's what I was catching. Who knows. I'm looking online right now about replacing with single hooks
