In this age of college baseball it is pitching first and foremost with defense close behind. But batters HAVE to be able to put the ball on the ground and spray it. Straight pull hitters will struggle with the size of Ameritrade if they just try to blast it.
I think Cannizaro's approach has been spot on so far, it was pitching depth that hurt us. These young arms will be special in the coming years. The question is how the young bats develop. Our lineup is going to be very inexperienced next year.
