Posted in the other thread that he was likely considered to be "white trash" and resented it. He had close black friends and probably received more grief from white people about this than he did blacks
It reminds me of the saying along the lines of a southern white male no matter how poor he is always needs to feel superior to the black man. He reminds me of those people

That's why they will vote for the GOP even if that means hurting their own self interest
