Demps is an idiot and because Gentry showed up with charts and graphs for the interview he just wowed the idiot. Basically said if the Pelicans shoot more threes they will win more games.

Demps would never hire a guy like Thibs. Which by the way with the money that Thibs is getting from the Bulls he can be selective. Demps zeroed in on Gentry and everyone knew he was the guy the Pelicans were going to hire

Demos hired Gentry because he wanted a "yes" man. He fired Monty because Monty had his own ideas about the team's best direction in which to go.

I wonder what the outcome would've been had Monty won the power struggle and been able to bring in the players he wanted, and unload the players he didn't want.

He took this very same roster Gentry can't sniff .400 much less .500 with to the playoffs. What if he had been allowed to build the team he wanted instead of having to make the best of the roster Dell gave him?

Maybe Monty was a part of the problem, but the grass isn't always greener and sadly at this point most of us would probably rather he still be the coach of a competitive basketball team instead of the abomination we've had to suffer through thus far.

I was against Gentry from the start, and suspected this season would be a disappointment when Dell hired him. If they were going to replace Monty, hiring anyone other than JVG or Thibs made little sense to me unless Demps knew something I didn't, which it now appears he did not.
