re: Best suburb of Houston to buy a house?

Currently live in the Garden Oaks/ Oak Forest area. It's just North of the loop and a neighborhood with character. How it hasn't been mentioned yet is beyond me. I don't think the $200-$300k budget should be a barrier to entry but it might be. They're houses here that are being torn down and the rebuilds are pushing $1 mil but still plenty of properties in your range.

I don't have kids so I don't know about schools but Oak Forest Elementary is a public school that looks the part for sure...
