Never understood this argument. Both teams' pitchers are pitching at the same altitude. Focus on acquiring only ground ball pitchers.

The difference is the road team only has to play 3-10 times a year. The Rockies have to play there 81 times a year. It takes a heavy toll on the pitching staff. And the ground ball pitcher argument doesn't work because the ball doesn't sink as well in the thin air. Greg Maddux had an era of 5.19 at Coors Field. Pedro Martinez's career ERA in Denver was over 5. Clayton Kershaw's career ERA at Coors is 4.63. Roger Clemens had an ERA of 4.71 at Coors. These are some of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game and none of them were able to pitch effectively at Coors. What makes you think other pitchers would be able to pitch well in Denver?
