Maybe Chris Klein, who was a good player who had to compete with some great players on the right side at both fullback and midfielder. And Charlie Davies was on his way to be the perfect foil for Altidore and then messed his life up.

I wonder if people overrate what these two could have been. Altidore's career progression has definitely not gone the way many thought it would. And how good was Davies really? Not trying to be cynical here. I'm asking because I don't know.
