My wife bought a MacBook in 2011. 15in for like $2000. I thought she was crazy. Last year the mouse pad exploded, well the batter underneath it did. Only way to use it now is if it's charging and with a wireless mouse.
I bought her a 17in HP laptop for $600. She said she'll never go back to Mac.
I love my iPhone 4 because it fits my needs. Apple makes decent products but they aren't the end all be all of tech. Apple products can't be enhanced or altered for improvement. I bought my Asus computer tower and put like $500 in upgraded hardware in it, good luck doing that with a Mac.

That's why we buy Macs, we don't have to waste time trying to improve them.

My wife got her Mac in 2010, battery didn't explode but swole up to the point it broke the mouse pad. Curious what the failure rate is with that issue.

you can get all of that fixed at the Apple store for a $250 (before tax) flat rate
