They didn't have to wonder if they could compete, having beaten the #1 seed already. Like LSU's pitching staff and reserves, the bulk of the Cajun squad is young but battle-tested. They have a great coaching staff and a couple of possible future major-leaguers in the everyday lineup. They lost to the Tigers during the year but neither team played their best that night. LSU would be favored at home against any of the other 15 teams still in so yes, in spite of the Cajuns being a tough out, LSU is and should be the prohibitive favorite.
