Most of the National Park is untouched from poachers, but tthere's a few that get through and get caught. Which makes no sense with North Cherokee national forest directly above the park and southern Cherokee national forest right below it. Both of which are public land that you can apply for a permit to hunt ginseng, black bear, etc.. The Cherokee are the only people that I know of that are able to get to the stuff inside or on the backside of the GSMNP because of their tribal lands.
