Not really. They get the opportunity to get an education for free. If they under preform, they can lose their scholarship. It's set up for the colleges, not the athletes. They should guarantee them 4 years at the university no matter what and if they aren't good enough to be on the team, then that scholarship doesn't count towards your total that's allotted by NCAA. If they did that, and ensured that they would take care of medical for any injury suffered during a game or practice then I'd be 100% ok.

I actually think they should allot 6 years of scholarships or earning a degree, which ever comes first. LSU is judged based on its 6 year graduation rate, think it should be the same for the student athlete. Especially since its not the easiest to graduate on time as a student-athlete.

Seriously, when does this ever happen? If you lose your scholarship 9/10 it's because you fricked up in the classroom or got arrested. You deserve to lose it then.

Bottom line is college athletes with scholarships GET PAYMENT already. They are going to college for free, congrats, that's enough. On top of that, a lot of them are getting into a university they otherwise wouldn't without the athletic scholarship.
