The difference is that Harper's ego actually matters. The fans pay to see him, he mashes the ball and everyone leaves happy. The ump is there to facilitate the game. If he doesn't get in the box, call a dead ball and add a strike to his count. Ya know, like what the rule book says to do

There are some deserved ejections, but most of them are just umps/refs losing control of themselves or the situation. And I'm so tired of that 'showing me up' bullshite. Nobody even knows your fricking NAME, blue. All you are is a traffic cop, so just keep the game moving, call the trike zone like it's written, and remember nobody paid to see you.
