I understand the pick, Marcus apparently came back and owned the minicamp playbook Whisenhunt gave him at the first meeting, and TN desperately needs some excitement for a fed-up fanbase.
The worry for me is all the prior misses in the draft he'll have to overcome. After years of top picks and free agents, the o-line is still a problem. With Hyde on the board last year they took Bishop Sankey, who didn't produce. The d-line is just as troubling, and they need somebody to get to Luck for any kind of chance.
He seems like a great kid and I wish him the best, which is the same thing I said about Locker.

I don't doubt the kid's intelligence. I would expect a top 5 QB to be a whiz with the playbook. Memorizing the playbook is one thing.
Actually utilizing the playbook during the game is where he will struggle. There's simply a muscle memory which comes with learning a different offense. He's going to be thinking out there, when he needs to be reacting. Eliminating the thinking is something that only comes with reps. That's a phase that all athletes go through and those that have already played in a pro-style offense are far ahead of him in that facet of the game.
Rodgers, Brady, Manning, they aren't thinking when they're out there. They've run through those progressions so many times that they just react. That only comes from being in a situation so many times that your brain immediately knows what your body needs to do.
