Looking for a little information from those "in the know." I have never played a Xbox game multi-player but have been into DAI for a while and am interested in seeing what it's about.
Is there a recommended/required level?
Do party members have to be on your friends list?
Is it at all comparable to game play and guilds in SW-TOR?
Any information is appreciated.

It's extremely repetitive. It's just a straight grind if you like that kind of stuff. As far as level go, the recommended levels for the 3 tiers are about right (give or take a level or 2). Save up for the big chests, its more cost effective. Always try to make sure your party has one of each class (mage, warrior, rogue). Also, the knight-enchanter class (can't remember what it's called) is stupid good once you level it up a bit.
Party members do not need to be on your friends list.
I've never played TOR so I don't know.

It's just 4 players and you can queue with rando's or go with friends. Basically you grind levels till you get to max then you "promote" that character to get +1 whatever stat for all your characters. The top players spend countless hours speed running promoting countless times to have ridiculous stats. Over time you get the items together to "craft armor" unlocking a new class.
Honestly, it's fun to play for a little while but you don't want to spend the time to get higher level.
