Well he certainly didn't know how to de-escalate the situation. He was only making it worse IMO.

She was a little shite no doubt but it's not like he was actually trying to resolve the situation once she wouldn't leave the room. All he wanted to do was talk about how sad she was to embarrass her. Dude pretty much kept needling her until she flipped on him.
It sucks b/c she should have respected the authority figure but he should take some blame for actively making the situation worse b/c he got pissed at how she was talking to him.
