Wait a minute... I've been hearing all the bullshite about professors losing their jobs due to budget cuts... but is it just that LSU isn't hiring as many new people as they wanted? So nobody is actually losing their job... it's just less people being hired?

You are looking at it the wrong way. That percentage should be much larger. It is a state college, the state is supposed to contribute more than 3%-10% of its budget. OR the school should have a much larger endowment. That would mean wealthy alumni need to start donating to the school and not just TAF (I know that TAF donates 5 million a year to the school and that's nice but it is a paltry amount). TAF wouldn't have that money to donate to the school if TAF's donors were donating to the school like they should be.
Also, to whoever put down the art school. Realize that the world would suck without art. Art includes music, movies, modeling, graphic design...not just abstract painting. Get that out of your head and get off your high horse.
